MIND Tricamp Cyprus 2022 Summery.

Strong group on the second week

In March -22 we had two weeks of camp in Cyprus. First week was more of a basic week and second week it was time for the semipros. Both weeks we stayed at the Amphora Resort in Paphos. It offered big rooms just by the oceanfront. Breakfast & Dinner buffet at the hotel and as usual we enjoyed our lunch snack at a cafe on the bikerides. Since it was snow high in the mountains it made a spectacular backdrop for the views.

The ocean was still quite chilly but we still managed some Openwater swim training in the clear waters. On the schedule was sighting, Australian exit, handle waves and going in a tight pack.

For technique training we went to the big 50 meters heated outdoor pool. Here we cold do drills, sets and film under water. We also did some different fun races were the fastest swimmers was not the winners.

For the bike rides the Paphos region is truly great. You are quickley out of town and into the smal roads with very little traffic. The road surface is good and the views are great. It's a lot of climbing at times and a road bike is best suited for the task. We focused on building stamina, strength, speed skills and getting a lot of hours in the saddle. The rides here gets a lot tougher than in most other places like Mallorca, Fuerteventura or Sweden. It mostly goes up or down and you don’t get much advantage from the group. On the up side there is plenty of nice views and an excellent opportunity to practice your speed skills on the way down the Mountains towards Paphos.

Every bike ride of course has the mandatory Coffee stop. We always aim to stop were we can sit in the sun and enjoy the best coffee and of course the bigest and best tasting cakes. The meeting place in Kouklia and Art Cafe in Polis was among the favorites. On one of the really long rides we had a long stop at the Square in the ancient town of Omodos. Getting some sun and refilling the energi before heading down the Mountain.

After most rides we do a short brick run along the ocean. Some days we ride less and focus on longer runs. Doing some technique work and working on pacing. Some sessions ended at the hotel just in time to enjoy the sunset while stretching.

On top of swim bike and run training we had bike mechanics and how to change a tube. Some Strength, prehab, and foam roller for stiff muscles. We trained on T1 and T2 and then used all of our new skills in a small triathlon race. In the evenings we gathered around the buffet that was tasty and perfect for refilling the energy. Here we all had time tell our stories and listen to new ones, there is always someone who has a good tip. We love our camp weeks and charring our passion with other triathletes. It's always a happy bunch and truly inspiring.
